Massachusetts Retail Action Alert: Flavored Tobacco Ban Bill
Send Message to Your State Senator Today; Senate to Vote November 20th
The Massachusetts State Senate is scheduled to vote on Wednesday, November 20th on Senate Bill 2407 that would: (1) prohibit the sale of menthol cigarettes and all other flavored tobacco products including flavored smokeless tobacco, flavored cigars, pipe tobacco and flavored electronic cigarettes, and (2) impose a new 75% tax on electronic cigarettes. Senate Bill 2407 is the same legislation as House Bill 4183 that the Massachusetts House passed earlier this week.
Retailers that operate stores located in Massachusetts are urged to take immediate action by sending a letter to their Massachusetts state senator opposing Senate Bill 2407. To take action, NATO has a simple process for a retailer to follow to submit a personalized letter directly to their state senator. To send a letter, please follow these simple steps:
- Click on this link: http://www.congressweb.com/NATO/588/
- In the appropriate boxes, fill in your first and last name, e-mail address, phone number, street address, city, state and zip code (all of this information is needed to match you to your specific Massachusetts state senator and for your senator to send you a reply).
- Make any changes to the text of the letter that you deem appropriate.
- Click the “Send” button.
- Your letter will automatically be sent to your specific state senator and your name will be automatically filled in at the bottom of the letter.
